Missouri River Watershed School Festival

Each May, 400+ middle and high school students come to Yankton’s Riverside Park to learn about the Missouri River, its resources & history, responsible recreation, and more!

Serving to build the next generation of stewards, the ROSCOE program fosters appreciation and understanding about what makes the Missouri River so important to our region and why it’s a national park!

Stewardship & Conservation

Missouri River Cleanup

This annual river cleanup is one of the largest local community efforts to clean up the MNRR. Since 2005, hundreds of volunteers have removed over 100 tons of litter and debris from the river!

Motus Network

Motus receivers installed at several sites along the Missouri River collect data on migrating wildlife, like birds and bats, to provide invaluable data to wildlife biologists, conservationists, and more.

This 147-mile water trail encompasses both districts of the MNRR and immerses paddlers, boaters, and other river users in the beauty, history, and ever-changing riverscape of the Missouri River.

Frost Service Road Segment

Frost Trail

Completed in 2017 with the support of many partners, this trail near Vermillion, SD guides hikers through woodlands and along the grassy bank of the Missouri River.
